I have a three TPB run that I recommend to new readers. 1. Year one 2. The long Halloween 3. Court of owls. This shows the rise of Batman, how he knows Gotham better than anyone and then how the hubris brings him down. After this, any Batman will work because you know him 100

Warning! If you get the compact version of Batman Hush do not read the back cover. It will spoil it.

Year One, Long Halloween, Hush, and Court of Owls were the exact books I got when I started reading comics like 13 years ago. Good list! 👏

Just started Matt Fractions Batman and I think it’s insanely underrated. I love the bad-gadget descriptions and how full of life Gotham is. It makes you actually understand why people might want to live in Gotham

Year one is great but I didn’t like it I feel like it isn’t really Batman and Bruce Wayne focused

I agree with all but Year One. Personally think most new readers would find it boring and the text is really off putting

I like Hush (mostly because of Jim Lee’s art) but the story …… It’s a little bit overrated
