@godneveranswer: #carljung I think there is something strangely uncomfortable about admitting that we don't know. We spend so much of our lives trying to turn uncertainty into certainty. When we don't have an answer, we search for one. When something is impossible to prove, we create explanations for it. Maybe because “I don't know” feels incomplete. It leaves a space in our minds that we desperately want to fill. But I've always found uncertainty more interesting than certainty. There are questions that I don't think we are supposed to have simple answers to. What happens when consciousness ends? Why are we here in the first place? Is there something beyond what we can perceive, or is everything we experience all there is? Maybe there are answers to these questions, maybe there aren't. And maybe we'll never be able to know. I don't think not having an answer makes the question meaningless. If anything, uncertainty is what makes us keep questioning. Sometimes I think people are less afraid of death itself than they are of not knowing what comes after it. We want to believe there is something because the idea of nothing feels unbearable. Others want to believe there is nothing because it feels more rational to them. But either way, the desire for certainty can become stronger than the evidence itself. And that's where I think things become interesting. What if we could simply exist between the possibilities? Not desperately searching for something to believe in. Not desperately trying to prove that nothing exists either. Just acknowledging that our knowledge has limits. Maybe there is something after this. Maybe there isn't. Maybe consciousness is far stranger than we understand. Maybe death is simply the end. Maybe reality itself is something we barely understand. I don't know.
