They clearly got the dog from an unethical backyard breeder or puppy mill situation. It’s a hard lesson to learn, but supporting those people is not it. That poor puppy didn’t deserve any of that

As a breeder...... the breeder should be paying that vet bill or take the dog bsck and refund them. That means all the pups probably have it.

Reputable breeders start shots at between 6 and 8 weeks so by 4 months all 3 groups of shots would have been given along with a rabies at the last appointment.

Pavo has an average 10 day incubation period before symptoms start. The puppy got it at the breeders house.

The breeder also don’t get him his rabies before letting him go home because she didn’t want to give him too many that day. The day he was being picked up! He was originally going to someone else who backed out sometime prior to her relisting him for sale and my daughter contacting her so my thing is why would he 18 weeks before he was getting his second shot set of shot

The breeder is responsible. BUT The emergency vet grossly overcharged them, unless the puppy stayed extensively in the veterinary hospitals care for around 10 days or more. At most the puppy received a test, an IV of fluids, some oral corrective mixture which is basically pepto bismol for animals, ( but most vets don't use it anymore) a oral medicine to stop the vomiting, Maybe some packets of probiotics, ( big maybe) And finally they should have administered monoclonal antibodies. price should have been 1k to 2k max unless puppy had an extended stay.
