You definitely should elaborate on the tensions between Libya and the US in the 80s under Reagan. Reagan’s administration went so far as to lie about Qaddafi attempting to take him out in order to have an excuse to bomb Libya. If you read news articles from the early 80s, US oil companies were paying American workers daily premiums to defy evacuation orders. The only reason tensions were eased at the end of Dubya’s term was that his family and associates were able to make a backdoor deal with Qaddafi and the Saudis to ensure they could resume operations in Libya. It’s deplorable that decades of geopolitical conflict and greed have ended so gruesomely for the people of Libya.
