10 Tips For Projecting (Indoors or Outdoors) -Get as many beta videos from other climbers as you can. It’s good to figure out your own beta, but beta videos allow you to see beta that has *worked* for other climbers. You don’t always need to reinvent the wheel! -Be properly warmed up before you start trying your project. You want to start off feeling good and not trying to finish your warm up on your project. -Take videos of each attempt (it’s really helpful to review each try and it helps you remember beta…plus you never know when you might send!) -Figure out how long you need to rest in between projecting days. Do what works best for you and your body. -Take a friend with you to your project. Sometimes a fresh perspective can help you send! -Have someone power spot you on moves you are having trouble with on a climb. -Look for alternate beta that suits your strengths. The goal of projecting is to send a climb that is hard for you…so do it in the “easiest” way possible. -Remember to climb other boulders/routes in addition to your project. Projecting can be taxing mentally and it’s nice to remember you can actually send 😊 -Take the pressure off of sending. Treat each session as an opportunity to learn and climb. Try hard on each move. That is all you can do to reach your end goal of the send. -Lastly…just remember that future you has already sent the climb 🫶🏼 *Bruce Wilson aka Three Peak Films told this to me and it is some of the best advice I’ve ever gotten on projecting.
