@upspiral.life: Nobody warns you that you'll fall out of love with the same person more than once. Six hard truths about long-term love. Follow me then comment UPSPIRAL and I'll send you more information about my programs. You can also click the link in my bio. Long-term love is not one continuous feeling. It cycles. Some seasons you can't get enough of them. Some seasons you look across the kitchen and think, who are you. Both belong. The person you married is going to disappear. So are you. Ten years from now neither of you is the one who stood at the altar. The job is meeting the next version of them and getting curious all over again. Some years of a great relationship are boring. Work, laundry, kids, dinner, Netflix, bed, repeat. We're trained to read low intensity as low love. Low intensity is also what safety feels like to a regulated nervous system, and safety is the ground everything else grows out of. Your partner cannot make you feel loved all the time. They'll misread you. Forget the thing. Say it wrong. Some days they're emotionally unavailable because they're a person with their own stuff running. You'll let some things go without ever processing them. Not betrayal. Not cruelty. Those need repair. I mean the weird tone on a Saturday morning. The mood after a brutal day at work. Don't investigate every irritation. Let some of it roll off. And eventually it comes down to how you treat the person you found. Chemistry gets you through the door. Compatibility matters. Forty years gets built out of tiny decisions nobody applauds. How you speak when you're tired. Whether you assume the best or the worst. Whether tomorrow gets to be a fresh start. A great love story almost never looks like one while you're living it. It looks like Thursday. A thousand Thursdays tells the real story. #UpSpiralLife #LongTermRelationships #MarriageAdvice #RelationshipAdvice #LoveThatLasts

I am convinced a successful long term relationship is not about loving the person it's about really "liking" them. It's easy to fall in love, but over time liking who they are deep down is what keeps you there.

So true!! My husband & I are celebrating our 50th anniversary in just a few months. We have a really wonderful marriage, but everything you said is spot on. We have each changed and grown so much over the years, but we keep falling in love with the next version of each other.

My parents have been married for 52 years. Mum said he's still the same old grumpy prick, as he was the day she married him, and dad says mum is still annoying, 52 years later!!! They really do love each other though. 🤣

The mundane tears you away from each other. Then you stop and have an epiphany. I can’t imagine living without her. Cancer, loss of jobs, going through something mentally internal. Then you realize that the person who loves wants you tell them you’re struggling. I’m with my wife for 26 years and are celebrating our 20th anniversary in October. Love is understanding each others moods , body language. I’ve learned recently that I can challenge a comment. It has helped us so much.

Michael after 43 happy years of marriage and now three as a widow, I can’t agree more with what you said. It’s chocking each other every day and working honestly in the relation.🤗

This is sooooo true. At the of the movie “when Harry met sally” they interview couples. An old couple said the secret to their long marriage was “they never fell out of love at the same time”. I didn’t understand then but 37 years in with my husband and I totally get it now. We have a wonderful marriage but we definitely have fallen in and out of love. Love is always there, but not always in love. Choosing to ride out those times is the secret. It is worth it if you’re with the right person

long term love can only exist while they vibrate at the same frequency. some relationships are not meant to be long term. Spirits come together for different reasons, sometimes just to heal.

we've been married 23 years with 2 children (16 and 20) and haven't fallen out of love with him yet. I think it's safe to say, if it hasn't happened yet it wont?

All true- but doesn’t mean one partner might just decide to break it off. My spouse walked out after 44 years. He was on a medication for a long time which had a side effect that could (and for him did) affect behavior/personality. He became a person who decided he no longer liked me. 💔
