@tranquiltrauma: Communication skills work when both people are participating in good faith. “Communicate your needs.” “Set a boundary.” “Meet them halfway.” “Try to understand their perspective.” These can be helpful tools for healthy relationships experiencing conflict. But when the dynamic involves abuse, manipulation, intimidation, or coercive control, the issue may not be a lack of communication. Sometimes the other person understands the boundary perfectly well—they simply do not respect it. You cannot communicate someone into treating you with respect. And you should not have to find the “perfect” words to convince someone not to harm you. 🌿 Healthy communication requires emotional safety. — Tranquil Trauma Therapy You are safe to soften here. #RelationalTrauma #CoerciveControl #EmotionalAbuse #TraumaTherapy #HealthyRelationships
