@theargentgroup: At least a dozen Coco delivery robots suddenly crowded a sidewalk on North Clark Street in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood on the morning of August 31. Chicago resident Becca Ostien recorded video of the unusual scene while out for a run. The robots were clustered together, with some moving around while others remained stationary, creating a traffic jam on the sidewalk. Coco Robotics said the incident was caused by a “sidewalk deployment error.” Several robots leaving a station to begin their daily routes were rerouted at the same time, sending them toward the same area. Coco said the problem was fixed within minutes and that it added safeguards to prevent the same issue from happening again. Coco has operated delivery robots in parts of Chicago since late 2024. The company says its robots can travel at speeds of up to about 5 mph and are designed to slow down around pedestrians and obstacles.
