one of the most valuable ways to use Microsoft Copilot isn’t to generate another summary, rewrite an email, or make your argument sound more polished. It’s to try to break your argument before somebody else does. When we’ve spent time building a proposal, business case, strategy, recommendation or project plan, we naturally become attached to the logic behind it. That makes blind spots harder to see. This is where Copilot can become genuinely useful as a critical challenger. Instead of asking: “Does this make sense?” Try asking Copilot to act as a rigorous devil’s advocate and actively search for: - Hidden assumptions you haven’t proven - Weak, vague or missing evidence - Logical gaps in your reasoning - Credible counterarguments - Stakeholders who may object - Risks or perspectives you haven’t considered - Questions you’re likely to face in the room Then take it one step further. Ask Copilot to rank the weaknesses by severity. That matters because not every criticism deserves the same attention. A minor wording issue is very different from discovering that your entire ROI calculation relies on an adoption assumption nobody has validated. You can also ask: “What would a sceptical CFO challenge here?” “What objections would an operations leader raise?” “What evidence would someone need before approving this?” “What part of this argument is easiest to attack?” “What am I assuming that may not actually be true?” The objective isn’t to make Copilot disagree with everything you say. It’s to create deliberate friction in your thinking. Because the most useful AI response isn’t always the one that helps you finish faster. Sometimes it’s the one that forces you to think harder before you walk into the meeting. Use Copilot to draft your argument. Then use it again to attack it. That second conversation could be the one that makes the first one worth presenting. #MicrosoftCopilot #ArtificialIntelligence #PromptEngineering #FutureOfWork #Microsoft365
