Yes. But also...if you correct his "mistakes" all the time, and speak up about what doesnt sit right with you a lot, are you not basically changing and molding him the way that benefits and suits you? I wouldnt call this healthy. And yes Ive done this too, a lot. And also called it healthy communication until he pointed it out and I thought about it. Hes right. Relationships are compromises, sometimes you just gotta accept the other person as they are.

Everyone wants a relationship, but nobody knows how to keep a relationship healthy because everyone thinks a perfect relationship requires no change, effort, and struggles.

He’s never ever made me feel like the problem when talking about what’s upset me. I’ve always struggled to do that growing up bc my folks always turned it around on me. My love sits and listens to everything, he makes sure he understands and I can’t be more appreciative. But due to my struggle growing up, I’m not always capable of that and fall into the same thing my folks did to me, he stops me and helps me understand when I’m doing that and not hearing him- he’s helped me grow as a person and I couldn’t be more grateful to call him mine.

Finally in a healthy relationship!! My partner listens (sometimes does get defensive as is natural, but always ends up listening regardless) and then he thanks me for telling him what bothered me because it’ll help him make sure he doesn’t do it again. I feel so lucky😭

Yup. But if they were emotionally neglected as a kid (more common than youd think and pretty normal too) then they feel like their opinion/feelings dont matter so they shove them down as their parents indadvertedly taught them. They might value and feel this way as you describe but wont feel its possible for them so they shut it all down. Then when it eventually goes to hell, its easier leaving than changing. The parents failed without knowing it and the partner either have to teach them emotional maturity or it ends

Me and him did this, I can definitely say that I questioned him more than he did with me ever. But he stops everything to talk about it every time, I could never be more grateful. I need to do better on my side 😅
