A WOMAN TOLD THE PRIEST: “I DON’T WANT TO COME TO CHURCH ANYMORE.” And the priest’s response left her silent for a long time… One day, a church member came to the priest and said with disappointment: “Father, I’ve decided not to come to church anymore. Every time I attend Mass, I see people looking down at their phones, people chatting with each other, and others who seem completely distracted. Some people act holy in public, but in private they are completely different. This kind of church keeps disappointing me more and more.” The priest listened quietly without answering right away. After a moment, he picked up a cup filled with water and handed it to her: “Before you leave, please do one thing for me. Take this cup of water and walk around the church twice. But remember — do not spill a single drop.” She took the cup and carefully began to walk. Along the way, she stayed extremely focused. Her eyes hardly left the rim of the cup, afraid that even one careless step would cause the water to spill. After finishing the two laps, she let out a deep breath and handed the cup back to the priest. “Father, I did it. I didn’t spill a single drop.” The priest smiled and asked her: “While you were walking, did you notice who was using a phone? Who was chatting? Who was doing something inappropriate?” She shook her head. “No, because I was focused on the cup the entire time.” The priest gently said: “That is the answer. When you are truly focused on God, you will not spend all your time looking at other people’s faults. We come to church not because everyone here is perfect, but because we all need God. People in the church will have weaknesses, because everyone is still learning and growing. But do not leave the One who has never abandoned you just because of people’s imperfections.” After hearing this, the woman fell silent. She finally realized that she had spent all her time looking at people, while forgetting that the One she should truly be looking at was God. Many times, the reason we become disappointed so easily is because our eyes remain fixed on people. But people fall. People fail. People hurt you. Only the Lord never changes. Jesus said: “Follow Me.” (Matthew 4:19) He never said: “Follow perfect people.” So do not drift away from God because of someone else’s coldness. Do not stop worshiping because of someone else’s weakness. Because the true reason you come to church is not to watch how others behave, but to bring your own heart closer to the Lord. The more you focus on God, the less the world will influence you, and the less likely you will lose faith because of people’s failures. May every time we come to church, we come not with eyes that criticize others, but with hearts that truly hunger for God.Amen #fyp #jesus #prayer #grace #amen🙏
