@davesummersenglish: Learn English. The history of English: Spelling in English, Anglo-Saxons, Christianity, Malmesbury. DSE260920. #historyofenglish #learnenglish #davesummersenglish
Why isn’t it standardized? All C1/2 level of English is crazy. Adding new words from other languages (especially form French) and not adapt them to your own spelling rules/orthography? It’s like crating new/secret language just for elite 💆🏻♂️

Ultimately, however, the arduous history of the English language's formation did not prevent it from becoming the most widely spoken language in the world.

i simply love your videos. you combine two important things... History and Language. i'm a Huge fan... i always share your content. i've seen a video about the structure "do / does" in questions... that came from this mix angles and saxons... could you be so kind and explain that... why we use "do" in questions? sometimes, english is confusing lol. we learn people is the plural of person... and yet we hear, often, native speakers saying persons 😳. anyhow.. i love learning with you... and being able to "travel" trhough beautiful England's landscape. take care

What The?!
Woooow!
This really explains the whole weirdness of the English language!
When I started learning English 40 years ago, it was really weird to me. It was not like what you speak is what you write (like my native language). It was really struggling for me.
Later, I got used. Stopped thinking about that.
Now, you gave me a really neat and logical explanation.
Thank you!

English is I believe only language in Europe that doesn’t have any institute that would make English systematic and in any order. Other countries had this institution for centuries making sure spellings stays correct etc. While English just mixed words from German, Celtic, French etc and just left it as it was
