We were there in 2018 when Tut’s funerary mask was still at the Cairo Museum. We had to sneak pictures of it then. 😂

When you travel to Egypt, make sure you have enough cash for the tourist visa. Speaking of cash… use only Egyptian pounds not your own. It's not for your convenience. Very huge counterfeit money market/black market. You don't need to bring cash in exchange without a bank. You can take it out direct from ATM . Make it easy on yourself, put all of your purchases, admissions, restaurants, shopping on a card… Only carry enough cash to make an appropriate tip. ALWAYS KNOW WHAT THE EXCHANGE RATE IS. And this is important so that you're not over overcharged or over tip. On average a thousand Egyptian pounds is roughly twenty to twenty five US dollars.. DO NOT LET ANY MERCHANT OR CAB DRIVER TELL YOU THAT YOU HAVE TO PAY IN US DOLLARS. It's against the law. It's not their currency they do not control it and they don't have a right to insist that you pay for it that way. It's the sign of a scammer. Additionally ladies do not be too friendly with any of the gentlemen. It's against Islam for them to even speak to you or flirt with you anyway. muslim men do not date -- it's a lie. They're not truly interested in you at all. They're interested in experiencing you or what you have. But they are not interested in you. Do not give them your WhatsApp number or show them where you are on social media. You would be well advised to know that it is against Islam for any Muslim to take part in any tradition, celebration, tradition or holiday that is not recognized by Islam… That would also include the western style of dating. There is no flirtation/lovers weekend/living together before you're married. It's outright against the law. Keep them at arms length distance for your own safety. Speaking of clothing -- do not pack skimpy dresses or spaghetti straps. It's completely inappropriate in blazing hot sun. Stay covered in floaty billowy type garments. No amount of sun sunscreen is gonna protect you. Tight fitting clothing traps in body heat, and you'll end up dehydrated. And yes, even though you're going to Egypt, you will need to pack a light jacket or a sweater, close toed shoes, not all sandals. It gets freezing at night.

Spent the entire month of June in Cairo. Saw soooo many things but GEM was the absolute highlight of the whole trip. I walked around for 6 hours and I’m pretty sure I still missed some things. Most stunning museum in the world😍

it's nice they let you take pictures now, in the old Cairo museum you weren't allowed to take photos they literally had guards that would stop you and make you delete the picture[Crying]

Plus extra tips for : the guy who brings you from the hotel to the tour bus, the tour bus driver and tour bus guide, the guy who brings you from the tour bus to the entrance, the guy who offers you shade in the blistering heat, the guy who brings you to the tour guide, the tour guide himself, some random begger who seems to be glued to your leg. The guy who prevents you from being robbed in the obligatory funnel on the way to the entrance. And all the same people again on the way back ….
