The Caucasian burka is a sleeveless felt cloak traditionally worn by the mountain peoples of the Caucasus, as well as by shepherds and horsemen. Its history dates back much further: felt cloaks of this type have been known in the Caucasus since ancient times, while the burka in its familiar form developed as a traditional garment of the region’s mountain communities.
