@debsahoy: Why are people dishonest? @Martin Butler Dishonesty has evolved as a survival strategy and an attempt to gain an advantage at other people’s expense. #deceit #freud #ernestbecker #dishonesty #relationships

Surely if people are unaware of being dishonest towards others they are by default dishonest with themselves.

Tommy . :
You can't lie to yourself, you know the truth .
lying is simple just act as if it were true .
when you know somebody well , like family children ect you know they are lying because when they aren't lying they have much more conviction .

Our ego wants to be satisfied and pacified all the time. The need for greed is easier than generosity because human brains evolved a negativity bias that prioritizes self-preservation and resource hoarding over cooperative giving.
Our ego allows us to pick the all the best bits from religion and forget the worst bits by self satisfaction telling our self's lies that we can believe. Our egos like to make life easy as possible for us.
We get up set when things don't work out as we plan or the ego wants. The need gor greed.

Professor, your content is very good, however my listening is not that level yet, because I am learning English. it will be very kind of you if you could add subtitles to your videos. I will be very pleased if you do it so. Honestly, Carlos.

What is it called when you lie to yourself in the other direction? For example, you were never very good at guitar, but you studied at practiced and now you can play, but when someone asks, you say you don’t play or that you aren’t very good etc. Plain old low self esteem? Or something else?

I wonder is it a fundamental property of and an indispensable component of being a pack animal or part of a social group. Complete honesty would make the social group untenable.

I've noticed that most people in power are dishonest because they are narsasist's and they find other narsasist's to help them to control the workers.

I find incongruence even more interesting than dishonesty. We’re usually very good at seeing it in others, but not so much in ourselves. Sometimes what bothers us most in someone else is worth looking at as a mirror.
