I’ve been trying to find the right words to talk about Wang Wang, but the truth is… this story has affected me more deeply than I ever expected. I cried. I couldn’t sleep. I kept thinking about her, about what she must have felt, and about the fact that the ones who caused her suffering were children. And I keep asking myself: where were the adults? If those were my children, I would make absolutely sure they understood the gravity of what they had done. I would make them understand what fear means. What helplessness means. What it means to have everything taken away from you and to be completely at the mercy of someone stronger than you. Because a child who is capable of deliberately hurting an animal does not need excuses or laughter from the adults around them. They need to be stopped, held accountable and taught empathy. Animals are not toys. They are not objects. They are not here for our entertainment. And they are not less deserving of mercy simply because they cannot speak our language. They feel pain. They feel fear. They experience stress. They seek safety, affection and comfort. They trust us. And that trust should NEVER be answered with cruelty. What happened to Wang Wang has stayed in my mind because she had no way to understand why human beings were doing this to her. She deserved protection. She deserved food, warmth, safety and love. She deserved to live without being deliberately made to suffer. We need stronger animal-protection laws everywhere in the world. But laws alone are not enough. Parents, please teach your children that being stronger than another living being does not give you the right to hurt it. Teach them compassion. Teach them that an animal’s suffering is real. Teach them to protect the vulnerable, not torment them. How we treat beings who cannot defend themselves says everything about who we are.Wang Wang deserved better. Every animal deserves better. And I hope her story becomes more than another horrifying video people watch, cry over and eventually forget. I hope it becomes a reason to change something. Please protect animals. Please speak when you see abuse. Please teach empathy. They feel, too. They suffer, too. And their lives matter. 🤍🐾
