@learnwithdryemi: A research gap is NOT simply saying, “Few studies have been conducted on this topic.” 🚩 If you want your research to have a clear justification, you need to be able to explain what is missing, where it is missing, or what previous studies have not adequately addressed. Some common types of research gaps include: 📌 Knowledge gap – something is still not sufficiently understood. 📌 Empirical gap – there is insufficient evidence from existing studies. 📌 Methodological gap – previous studies used approaches that leave important questions unanswered. 📌 Contextual gap – evidence exists, but not in the population, location, institution, or setting you are studying. 📌 Theoretical gap – existing theories do not adequately explain the phenomenon. 📌 Population gap – certain groups have been overlooked in previous research. 📌 Contradictory evidence gap – previous studies have produced conflicting findings. The important thing is this: Don’t force a research gap just because you need one. Find the gap from the literature and show it with evidence. Save this post for the next time you’re developing a research topic, and send it to that friend who keeps writing “there is a dearth of literature” without explaining what is actually missing. 😂 Which type of research gap do you struggle with most? #ResearchGap #AcademicResearch #ResearchMethods #PostgraduateResearch #LearnWithDrYemi
