@figureskatinggoes: Scary collision during the ice dance warm up at the Russian test skates. Egor Goncharov collided with Vasilisa Kaganovskaya and Maxim Nekrasov. They ended up falling on top of him. So scary. Egor was able to skate his rhythm dance and will skate in the free today. Vasilisa and Maxim were unable to skate the rhythm dance. They have also withdrawn from the free dance today. I hope they recover soon. Vasilisa posted on her instagram story that they are without an serious injuries but are taking the time to fully recover. I respect the decision. I’m glad they are focusing on their health. It’s a sad situation. Crash are always terrifying but this is on of the worst I have seen. Maxim tried to protect Vasilisa. Unfortunately he took a hard hit. The ISU has been discussing shortening the warm up groups. Ice dance has a 5 minute warm up. Singles and pairs has 6. I understand dance has no jumps but they still need to practice. Ice dancers are also the fastest skaters. I think they should be given a 6 minute warm up too. If the ISU cares about athlete safety, they cannot shorten the warm up groups.
