MEET ALAGBE HEZEKIAH — THE OGBOMOSO-BORN DRIVER WHO RISKED HIS LIFE TO SAVE IWO 🇳🇬👏 A tanker driver, Alagbe Hezekiah, has been praised for his incredible bravery after risking his own life to prevent a devastating fire disaster in Iwo, Osun State. On Thursday, September 17, 2026, Hezekiah was supplying diesel at a filling station around Feesu Junction, along the Iwo–Ibadan Expressway, when his tanker suddenly caught fire. Despite attempts to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher, the fire quickly became uncontrollable and began threatening the filling station, nearby businesses and residential buildings. While others ran to safety, Hezekiah made a courageous decision. 🔥 He climbed into the burning tanker and drove it away from the populated area. With flames engulfing the truck, he carefully drove towards an uninhabited riverbank, where he eventually detached the truck head from the burning tank, helping to prevent the fire from spreading. According to Hezekiah, he knew he could either survive or lose his life, but he chose to take the risk rather than allow innocent people and properties to be caught in the disaster.
