Skincare combos that work better together 1. Reduce oxidative damage: Vitamin C + sunscreen
Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps neutralize free radicals generated by UV and environmental exposure. I like pairing it with sunscreen because antioxidants complement—not replace—your sunscreen. 2. Protect against UV: Sunscreen + UPF clothing
Sunscreen is important, but you don't have to rely on it alone. UPF clothing, hats, and shade physically block UV exposure, making this one of my favorite combinations for long days outdoors. 3. Dry, cracked heels: Urea + Vaseline
Urea helps soften and break down thick, rough skin while increasing hydration, making it especially useful for thickened heels. Follow with Vaseline to create an occlusive layer that locks in that moisture. This is a great combination before bed. 4. Crepey skin: Retinol lotion + AmLactin
Retinoids can help improve collagen production, skin texture, and the appearance of fine lines, while lactic acid in AmLactin helps exfoliate and hydrate rough, dry skin. Start by alternating these, especially if you have sensitive skin. 5. Rough, bumpy skin: KP Bump Eraser + AmLactin
For keratosis pilaris, I like ingredients that address both the rough buildup and dryness. KP bump eraser is a scrub with chemical exfoliants which help to smooth out the rough texture—since it is a scrub, use it once or twice a week. Combine this with lactic acid in AmLactin lotion to further gently exfoliate while hydrating the skin. This combo works like a charm 6. Lightweight moisturizer + Retinoid: The “open retinoid sandwich”
If retinoids tend to make your skin dry or irritated, try pairing them with a lightweight moisturizer like a light lotion of water gel creams. You can moisturize first, and then apply your retinoid. This can make retinoids much easier to tolerate without giving up the benefits. #skincaretips #drugstoreskincare #dermatologist
