Happy first day of Fall! 🍂 Here’s how I write the word “Autumn” five different ways: 1. Script: Classic and clean without being too fancy. It’s a reflection of my natural lettering style, and a great foundation for hand lettering and modern calligraphy practice. 2. Expanded: This version spaces the letters out with longer connecting strokes. It doesn’t use pressure variation, so the lines stay consistent throughout. I used a brush pen for this version, but this style also works great with a monoline marker. 3. Serif: A printed style with small decorative serifs added to each letter. It has a little more personality than plain print lettering I used for the title, but keeps the structured look. 4. Flourished: A more decorative take on the first style with added embellishments. There’s no one “correct” option for where to place the flourishes, but I aim for a balanced look that enhances the word without overwhelming it. It’s all about personal expression and finding a balance between playful and overdone. 5. Casual: A relaxed, slightly messier style that skips the polish of traditional calligraphy. It’s purposefully not bouncy or overly stylized, which makes it feel a bit more laid back. Let me know which one’s your favorite, or what styles you’d like to try next! What I Used: Marker: @stabilousa Pen 68 Brush Paper: @astrobrights 28lb Printer Paper Nails: @oliveandjune Tab Press-Ons in Cabernet #handlettering #moderncalligraphy #learnlettering #letteringpractice #stabilo #astrobrights #oliveandjune #learncalligraphy #letteringart
