There are services that can restore your painting, but it won’t be cheap. Get an estimate and send that charge to the renter.

I’m so angry for you!!! We have a condo in Ft. Walton listed on Airbnb, we had a guest smoke inside for 10 days, it was awful. Airbnb actually covered the damage, we were shocked!

Don’t share how much you paid. It’s the value that matters in these cases. I had an absolutely nightmare experience with Airbnb’s help a few years ago. I really wouldn’t share too much online.

Take the painting into a place that restores paintings. If no pieces are missing, they might be able to restore it. I hope you are documenting everything so you can take the people to court for reimbursement costs for not only the repairs but also for any lost money from having to cancel reservations while the place was being fixed. I am glad that they didn’t damage more. There was another AirB&B owner who had something like $30,000 in damages done to their place.

We had to send photos that were similar w things that were broken and hard to find the correct price. Insurance paid in full once they received photos..good luck.

For the painting, you should have a art restoration specialist look at it and give a price to repair the painting. That's the only solution since it's an antique
