It’s true that everyone has different financial capacity, but a push gift is something for the woman not the baby, he could have gotten her maybe a dress, a shoe or bag, a necklace etc something he can afford for her, no one said he should buy her what he can’t afford but he should buy her something for her not the for the baby and call it push gift. That’s what a push gift is.
