Water began flooding into her forward spaces. The ship’s designer examined the harm and knew the terrible truth — she could not survive. The water would spill from one place to the next, pulling her steadily down. The Awakening Orders were given to load the lifeboats. Women and children were asked to go first. Many did not want to leave — the ship still felt solid, and the night air was freezing. Some boats left with empty seats, while others filled quickly. Families separated, some choosing to stay together no matter what. Courage and Sacrifice The ship’s band played on deck, trying to keep fear at bay. Wealthy men stepped back so others could live. One wife refused to leave her husband, saying they would go together. Fathers kissed their children goodbye and stepped away. The designer stayed aboard, seeing others off until the end. The End Slowly, the bow sank deeper. The stern rose high into the air, lights still glowing. With a terrible groan, she broke apart. Then she slipped beneath the waves, vanishing into the black and freezing ocean. Silence fell over the water, broken only by cries from those left behind. The Rescue Hours later, another ship arrived. They pulled shivering survivors from the night. Many had already perished in the cold. The survivors were cared for, but they carried the loss with them forever. The Legacy The world woke to the news in grief. Nothing had seemed more invincible — and nothing had failed more terribly. Laws were changed, ships were built with greater care, and safety became the highest priority. While it's impossible to ID the exact iceberg titanic hit, there's actually a far more accurate and widely accepted picture of the suspected iceberg. it was taken by people aboard the SS Bremen. It matches most descriptions and drawing of the iceberg that were given by survivors
