I do that! I’ve gotten stuck in a British accent my friends thought it was funny. I did not. I was working in a portrait studio and a couple from southern Georgia came in and they had a heavy accent and I was literally fighting for my life to not pick up their accident and accidentally insult than like I had to think about how I was speaking. I’m from Connecticut, I just don’t pronounce “D”that my big accent on my normal voice, but if I’m around people too long that have accent or drawls or funny way they talk. I’m screwed every dang time.

Every southern person I know code switches. They don’t even realize it. Totally neutral one second but god forbid pawpaw calls them on the phone, the person who answers that call is a completely different person to who I was talking to a 10 seconds earlier 😂 shoot at this point I do it too. I been here in southwest VA for 14 years, it rubs off on you. Don’t matter my parents are from Chicago 💀

It’s a form of echolalia, I have it also. I’m an English person here in New Jersey, my dad is Aussie, grew up with a large percentage of Nepalese and Filipino people. My accent is mutt!

We have a pretty big fair in our town for the state. Every year my oldest daughter would just randomly break out in a Brit accent during the fair and any other time a popular event happened in our small town.
