Aren’t they able to take them to court because they have technicians stating to the fact that it is not their fault. I worked for a home warranty company, but I still consider myself a layperson and that seems like common sense that it is not the guest fault.

If you're an airbnb host and you have a septic tank, you should be getting that pumped once a year. you don't know what these guests are doing. You have to get it pumped

This is how Airbnb is gonna put themselves out of business. Apparently, they know plumbing and septic systems better than the professionals. I just do not see how they can side against the literal professionals. But there is zero chance that I would be paying for a host to get their damn septic system pumped, which is clearly what they’re trying to do. They’re trying to offset the cost of their septic system pumping by taking advantage of their guest. That is so disgusting and Airbnb is backing that decision up. So will this host in the future think oh I shouldn’t try to rip my guests off. No they’re gonna think that this is acceptable behavior this is an acceptable way to run a business and they’re gonna continue to do that further hurting Airbnb’s business model. This is a snowball headed down the hill.

Its not always the host....a host can have it pumped regularly. and not so smart people put stuff down the garbage disposal that shouldn't be. which in turn plugged the filter on the septic causing it to back up.

I've been working in marketing for 20 years and I cannot understand at all how Airbnb the company, the actual business, seems to be so unaware of how drastically their popularity is plummeting. It's mostly due to terrible hosts. So when things like this happen where it is so cut and dry, so very clearly the hosts' fault, the fact that Airbnb will side with the host - who's trying to fuck over the customer! - will never stop blowing my mind. I know they have access to information about what customers actually think about Airbnb and how much worse it's getting a year over year, and still they're doing stuff like this! Unbelievable

tip for things like this. go to the local county office. MOST counties make you submit a receipt of your last septic pump since they are mandatory for x amount of months/years. the county would have record of how long its been. this would greatly help your case against the host

We stayed one time and the drain from the toilet to the deck we noticed it when we were sitting on the deck for dinner. I went over to look bc I was like what is that. It was feces and toilet paper all over the deck. We called the host he immediately came over gave us a partial refund. So foul but made it right

I am an Airbnb host and there are more stories about bad hosts than bad guests, but believe me right now I am in bed questioning my judgement bc I approved a reservation for my house of 8 guest max, and allow two more bc the guest said there were a family and wanted to stay together, there are currently almost 30 people in the house and no answering messages, I work very hard to have a nice property and try to be a good host, but sometimes is hard, and sometimes there are really bad guests.

Oh hell to the No, the guest needs to fight this and take legal action. The host knew how to play the game not responding then waits for the guest to except the reimbursement to say you owe me X amount. There’s no way that in less than 24 hours the septic issue is the guests fault. Air BnB needs to do better and clearly read the information

I'm old now. I stayed in hotels probably 3 times 40 years ago. I've never stayed in a Airbnb situation. I'd often thought if I traveled to a place I would rather stay in a house vs a hotel bc of safety at my age. after watching your videos I'm gonna get a tent and camp. that's to much with these people. I'm to old to go to jail....👵
