Other Videos

There have been many very well done videos on this topic that go much deeper into it and I would highly recommend giving them a watch if you haven’t already 🫶 @🍉 courn 안 @Shan 📖🫀🧂 @Michelle Elman “Sickfluencers” saved my life. In a time where I had no idea what was going on with my body, when I was shut out from the world bc I couldn’t leave my bed, when it felt like everything was slowly slipping through my fingers, the disability community online was my life line. It was seeing other people describe going through the same things I had, seeing them struggle and not feeling alone when I was down, seeing them do better and feeling hope that I could too, learning about my conditions and finding treatments that helped me feel a bit better, making friends when I hadn’t spoken to anyone new in months, and finding ways to live and experience joy despite the pain and the struggle of living with these conditions everyday, ALL of that is what kept me here. And once I finally did have the answers to why I had been struggling my whole life, you best believe I never wanted anyone else to feel that alone, scared, and without answers. I started posting bc I remember how it felt to not know what was going on and to feel so utterly alone and misunderstood and dismissed. I share my experiences bc I remember what it felt like to finally find someone who understood. To diminish all of that, all the community, understanding, education, and awareness, to punch down on people who are already struggling and consistently belittled…it’s cruel, plain and simple. #disabled #disability #chronicillness #chronicallyill #disabilitytiktok
