went from being a psych major to social work. as a psych major I would get asked questions like this all the time. as a social work major, people just say “oh so you wanna take peoples kids away?” I can’t win

I have a master’s in psych and several years of experience in mental health, specifically with kids. I get asked by family members if I can help them manage their children. If your kid isn’t throwing things or threatening you or themselves with a knife, then by my standards they’re doing great. Idk what to tell you.

I am a psychologist, and every time someone tries asking me for professional advice (while I'm not working/in academic setting) my brain literally goes STATIC and I'm not saying this because I wanna be paid to give advice it literally happens by itself unless I have my coat on, I am useless I suppose it's a decent coping mechanism for the hardships of the profession, tho

all through medical school people would present me their rashes and explain obscure symptoms in great detail without be asking... like please stop and see someone who 1) specializes in that field and 2) gets paid for this and 3) can run tests. leave me alone please, I am having some free time right now.

Are you the one that does the “don’t get manipulated” videos? Cuz I love those. Also my abnormal psych professor said from day one “if your story is longer than 1 minute I’m cutting you off” and then proceeded to regularly cut off this one particular lady who ALWAYS had a story relating to the subject. I know he was TIRED
