Unfortunately, I also suspect her skin color impacts how "controlling" she is perceived by strangers on the internet. So many people have deep seeded prejudices, often times that they aren't even aware of... 👎🏼

Usually when someone is in a long-term committed relationship with you and they have a preference about the way you look, it’s because they’ve seen in several different looks and they know you don’t look good like that. My boyfriend thought he could defy me and shave off his sideburns. Guess who looked a little funny for a week? It wasn’t me.

My man prefers me with long hair. I still cut it up to my shoulders every year or 2. I prefer when he has a full beard/moustache. He still randomly shaves off his moustache but keeps his beard and looks Amish. Knowing I high key hate it. lol. We joke about it. It's whatever.

My boyfriend shaves his facial hair because it makes me uncomfortable, but also, he likes it anyways. He knows I complain if has it, and he listens because he wants me to be able to kiss him normally without discomfort. Literally what a relationship is, idk.

my bf prefers it when i have my afro rather than when its in braids or whatever. he still thinks im beautiful either way but it IS very cute when i take my braids out (he helps) and then he’s like “aw yay afro is back :)” and then gives me a head scratch/massage lol

when I was pregnant I was with my wife's family and her brother shaved while I was there, I started crying and couldn't stop or communicate that without a beard he looked so bad i got the uncanny valley vibe. when I did communicate that, he took it to heart and hasn't shaved since because I was right. its not controlling to be honest
