🤰 Earlier on in my chronic illness the medics kept telling me I was ‘bloated’, later I kept being asked if I was ‘pregnant’, then later on a 3 month admission to a London hospital where my tummy kept growing, they said I was ‘fat’… Deep down I knew I couldn’t be fat, I could barely eat. I was nauseas 24/7, would regularly vomit in the morning and by the time I was heading to Germany was forced to stick mostly to liquids. The size of my tummy also changed day-to-day. “Fat doesn’t fluctuate like that,” I would say to the doctors. I had a whole host of other chronic symptoms such a PoTs, Gastroparesis, MCAS, neurological, kidney and bladder problems, swelling, burning skin…the list was getting longer and longer 📋. ✈️ Eventually it took boarding a plane to Germany for a very specialist scan by an expert Professor, to be diagnosed with multiple vascular compressions caused by underlying Ehlers Danlos Syndrome 🩻. EDS means my overly stretchy connective tissue had caused major blood vessels in my body to shift into the wrong places and become squashed 🩸. Blood was being restricted from reaching my major organs and was back-flowing and leaking into my spine 😩. 🤰 It turns out my mesentery was FULL of water and blood hence looking pregnant. 💫 I went onto have 3️⃣ x lifesaving surgeries in Düsseldorf. 📆 3 weeks post-open abdominal surgery THIS was my tummy (with a little bloating left from being on the operating table for 8 hours but WOW talk about #TransformationTuesday).
