@steo_frm_dublin: Paul Stamets refused to answer Joe Rogan's question about the negative effects of portobello mushrooms on episode 1035 of the Joe Rogan Experience, claiming it was an "explosive area of conversation" that put his life in danger. #mushrooms #portobello #rocketfuel #carcinogenic #fyp

You need to boil it for 90 minutes in water then drain and discard the water then prepare as desired.

TikTok (and related short-form video) tends to present the Stamets–Rogan moment as a smoking-gun revelation that portobellos are secretly dangerous or that “they” don’t want you to know. The underlying chemistry (agaritine/hydrazine) is real, but the leap from laboratory high-dose animal data + a cautious refusal to expand on a podcast → “these mushrooms will give you cancer / are explosive / are being covered up” is a classic amplification of uncertainty into alarm. Mainstream food-safety and nutrition sources treat properly cooked commercial portobellos as safe for the general population

Large human observational studies have not linked ordinary mushroom consumption to higher overall cancer rates; some even associate higher mushroom intake with lower risk of certain cancers.

It’s easy really, he’s asked “what are the negative effects?” He could of plainly said there is none but he couldn’t because obviously big pharmaceutical company’s do not want people self medicating with herbs, or using plants etc as a high, especially a high that put your mind in a higher state of being, so yes his life would a million percent be in danger from big pharma
