@katniawatkins: TOO MUCH relationship “advice”on socials is built around rules that sound like facts but are only somebody’s interpretation of how a “good” relationship should work. (It’s your job to investigate claims by the way.) One of the things I’m studying this year through human-centered automation is how much of everyday life depends on invisible systems: planning, remembering, anticipating, maintaining, adjusting, noticing, and repairing. That applies to relationships too. ESPECIALLY when the person you build a life with becomes a major part of the operating system of that life. And if we want to make women’s lives genuinely easier, we must look at the systems around them, including the people sharing those systems with them. Tomorrow I’m dropping a brief overview of Month 1 of my year-long independent study in human-centered automation, cognitive offloading, mental load, research literacy, and everyday life systems, so make sure to follow! And if your own life already feels like 38 browser tabs screaming at once, I have free tools in my bio to help you figure out where the friction actually is ✨ Go forth and be less useful babe 💖
