I worked night shift in a supermarket for 12 years and I confirm that with every batch of new hires, without fail, at least one would go on their first break at midnight and never be seen again.

when I was 17 I was told by my family I was ‘a very caring boy’ (exactly what a 17 year old lad wants to hear lol) and to get a job in childcare. Well! I didn’t want to do that! So much so that I faked not being able to find the nursery for my interview at 10am. Rang my mum being like “I have no clue where it is & now I’m late so I won’t get it anyway & it’ll be embarrassing” but she insisted I go. So I went up to the door (an HOUR LATE BTW) and rang the bell. Lied that I couldn’t find the place and they only had me back for my interview the next day! Cue a 10+ yr career where I Specialised in SENco & behaviour management, ran my own holiday clubs, deputy managed nurseries & ended up managing 2 sites!

I told a wee girl at work she was free to leave any time, she was like "really?" and I says yeah its not school, you are an adult now you can do what you want. She was so happy and basically danced out the door

I’ve done a mix of days and nights since I was 18 (38 now) and I’m leaving for a Monday to Friday job 🥺 you’re right, it messes you up so bad, I suffer for days after. We do 12.5-13 hour shifts and don’t always get a break. I’m just so tired and ready for a new start xx
