@rejectaverage: Country 25 was the Kingdom of Bahrain, a tiny island nation right next to Saudi Arabia. I'd actually been here two years ago for a speaking and training gig and fell hard for it, so coming back felt like a homecoming. We got a great penthouse, hunted down the American franchise spots we'd been missing since the trip started (turns out it's basically Five Guys, minus the bacon, they just don't do bacon here), and then my friends threw us an authentic Arabian barbecue that we devoured every second of. Funny enough, outside of Canada, Bahrain might be the place I have the most friends anywhere in the world. We played some paddle tennis that night, and then my wife Julianna flew back in from LA to rejoin the trip. For the next three days we just slowed down and soaked in the city. Checked out the National Museum, wandered the city lights as Christmas Eve rolled in. On Christmas Eve we caught a teppanyaki show, one of our favorites, and I asked the chef if I could try the egg spin. He said yes, no idea I'd been practicing that trick for years. The whole staff was cheering me on, and yeah, that clip went viral on TikTok. I basically said it as a joke and he just waved me up. Christmas morning was a travel day. We snapped our family Christmas photo in the lobby and headed off to Saudi Arabia. Not exactly the postcard image of a Christmas holiday, but it's exactly what we signed up for.
