Also, when ppl criticize H4m4s (particularly in the US), it’s like they lose any tiny ounce of logic and nuance and see things in all black-and-white. It’s like they think that saying “two-state solution,” “ceasefire,” “Free Palestine!!” will automatically free Palestine… how do they actually expect Palestine to become free without a military or self-defense. “Peace and love” is nice and all, but when you’re being ethnically cleansed, murdered, and genocided for decades on end, what else are you supposed to do? Raise your fist and “stand in solidarity?!” No, you stand up for yourself. Of course, this doesn’t account for any of the vast nuance I mentioned earlier, that’s just not possible in any one comment on a TikTok, but I feel like so many people (including Palestine supporters) don’t realize HOW Palestine is ever going to be free.

There is no logic to it, you can’t out converse or out debate someone into knowing something is wrong. For the most part they know it is, they just don’t care. They themselves will need to put that two and two together and act on it.

THANK YOU!! it makes my head spin because they always bring up the “arab” countries as if the arab conquest didn’t happen like a billion trillion years ago which predates my entire existence. like wtf do you want me to do about that now? also they didn’t use MY money to do it (like you said in this video). i also think ANY form of colonialism is wrong. idc who’s doing it. it’s also extremely disingenuous when people compare the war in ukraine to palestine by saying “why does no one talk about ukraine, they only talk about palestine.” when we’ve already sanctioned russia + give ukraine billions of dollars in defense weapons while israel continues to never be held responsible for its crimes, gets to fund a genocide with my money, and continues to meddle in our elections. i can empathize with Ukrainians while also expressing disapproval with what’s being done with my money.

Totally agree. There’s usually a core value difference underneath these conversations. For example, I was talking to my sister about public school funding and realized how far apart we were when she said that children from poor families didn’t deserve a good education.

i think the biggest issue with Israel is that their colonization happened w/in living memory. it happened after other countries were already decolonizing too, so public opinion towards Europeans taking over another nation was already changing. they were allowed to slip by for 80+ years but thats also not long enough for them to feel too established to let them stay especially with the violence theyre enacting not just within their borders, but now theyre trying to expand their violence too. and the expect people to just... be cool with it? even if Israel was the perfect nation, just full of chill, non-violent ppl, if Palestinians were saying "heyyy we want our homeland back", i think a good chunk of people (not just land back lefties) would think they have a fair point

i suspect for some people it’s a sunken cost fallacy at this point. even some people i talk to now who have moved on to acknowledge the wrongdoings bring up the similar talking points and don’t seem reachable - at least in my experience
