The ending is about Lara knowing she loves Mari but she’s afraid of loving her due to her past and knowing she’d hurt her. Her going away is a sign of her self-growth and how she wants to become more stable as a person and as a partner. It was very clear their love was romantic, not platonic—not every romance has to show with a hug or a kiss what love truly is—their words and actions spoke miles enough for that.
