The reason most people want an Arabic name is becuz a lot of our names are from the Quran or prophets. And we want to be distinguished from disbelievers - MOST disbelievers have non-Arabic names UNLESS they have some kind of Arab background. And Arabic names are nice so why not. The meanings are also much deeper imo. That being said plenty of Muslims (specifically Asians) have non-Arab names

this video is in very poor taste. technically i see where youre coming from but, in a society working to instill a godless identity into our children. factors that distinguish them i.e. name are heavy influencers in still feeling connected to deen.

What you said is Very true. You’ve been conditioned to wear that when that’s Wahhabi and Salafi attire. Not Islam. Which is very similar to the concept of Arab names for non Arabs.

I think you’re right, but as an immigrant in a western country I like it when I meet someone with a muslim/arab name, I can tell they’re muslim. And vice versa. Its become an identity that binds us 🤷♀️

It’s not that simple, the problem comes with “imitating disbelievers” in names that are very specific to them to the point your child can’t be distinguished as a Muslim. Why would you name your child John when you can name him Yahya?
