I realized something recently… Some people are holding grudges against me for things they did to me. And honestly? That’s crazy. They hurt me. I reacted. They crossed a boundary. I created distance. They disrespected me. I stopped treating them the same. And somehow… I’m the bad person in their story. They tell people I changed. They say I’m bitter. They say I can’t let things go. But nobody talks about what happened before I became distant. Because people love talking about your reaction… when they don’t want to take responsibility for their actions. And the funniest part? I’m not even angry anymore. I don’t hate them. I don’t want revenge. I don’t need an apology. I’ve just learned that sometimes people will create a version of you in their head… because admitting they hurt you would force them to confront themselves. So if someone hates you because you finally responded to the way they treated you… let them. You don’t have to defend yourself in a story written by the person who hurt you.
