I am not religious, but I respect the hell out of you for taking the time to really inspect something you've been taught to believe with such an open mind. Not forcing it to fit your narrative is huge. Going back and inspecting related pieces in your own religious text and demanding of yourself that you respect both texts equally is also amazing. I've long enjoyed the phrase "there's no hate like Christian love" because, sadly, it seems to be an accurate summary of behavior and rhetoric from people who loudly call themselves Christians. What you've done here genuinely takes all the power out of that phrase in looking at you, and you've done that without minimizing or disrespecting anyone or their faith. All that to say, I have a deep respect for what you're doing here. I have no interest in becoming religious (again) but your thoughtfulness and the effort your putting in to really examine both texts without allowing personal or learned bias to muddy the water is the reason I will be looking forward to seeing more of you. Thank you for taking the time and finding the energy to share this. In a world where we've ALL experienced divisive narratives, I believe the way you are approaching this is a great step in lessening that divide and allowing space for understanding instead of holding fear just because it was what was presented first. I really feel like I just had a sit down with Mr. Rogers- and based on this first impression of you, I would be glad to be your neighbor

Something I’ve always loved about Islam is how you have to be as peaceful as possible even in something as violent as war. There are rules. Strict rules. You can’t lose your morals just because it’s war. You have to be mindful of even plant life! And when you find someone behaving in a way that’s against the command of Allah, know they are misguided by their own ego and it’s not a representation of Islam and its teachings
