People argued that since she was already in the car, she should have just stayed inside & driven away. But they miss two crucial points. First, she stepped out holding her phone, which means she either went into the car to grab it so she could call 911, or she had already called 911 & was told officers were on the way. Second, the whole situation started over a parking issue, which implies she never even got to do her shopping. So she likely called the police because she feared that if she went inside, he might do something to her while she was shopping. Leaving would not solve the problem if she ran into him again so she stood.
