@nurse_farmerjudie: One practice i believe more poultry farmers should adopt: test your day-old chicks when they arrive.📌🐥 A simple lab check can help you understand what your chicks came in with, identify bacterial infections early and, when necessary, determine antibiotic sensitivity instead of treating blindly. Know what you received before you start treating what you don’t know. Good poultry farming starts with information. 🧪🐥 #poultryfarming #poultryfarming

You won’t really get the result with this numbers of birds and this logic . Even picking 10 from this flock is insignificant to the experiment you want do. If you want to go this route; you need to select the birds using CRD with 5 treatments min and each treatment should have min of 3 replicates while each replicate has min of 3chicks for the sake of your test. then you can now examine each birds in each replicate per treatment and your result would tell you what you are looking for.. Coz some hatchery do mix, they buy eggs from another farm to meet up their own demand. Their own brooder stock might be clean while the sourced stock might not be and by the time you are doing your sampling what if you pick from the clean birds then you would assume all birds are clean…. The safest way to this is to get birds from reliable and trusted hatchery. Such hatchery give you chart of their birds so you would know what you are buying and to know best way to tackle it incase of any inherited infection or diseases…🥂🥂

you have a point but as a scientist am going to do a thorough research on what you are saying and then see what i can get ...for the next 8 weeks I will be finding out if prior testing is actually helping in disease prevention and if possible it should be mandatory for poultry farmers .
