Always transfer directly from the old iPhone, if available. iCloud backup restoration is only used if your old phone is physically unable to transfer to a new phone.

I plugged both of my phones into the chargers, transferred everything directly off the old iPhone to my new 18 pro max and it took about an hour. I had about 240gb of stuff and it all transferred perfectly. I was shocked it all worked and nothing went wrong. Bc usually everything goes wrong and never works haha
