Why do you think they do the “stand up and give your testimony” thing- it’s a competition on who’s suffered the most. Oh for sure the Catholic one. My extremely devout grandparents refuse to get treatments or take medications they desperately need in the name of “holy suffering”. It’s sad and frustrating ☹️

Practicing Catholic here, kinda. Those who experience the guilt often are those who are closest to God: so the suffering, the sick, the dying. It is important to also recognize that we believe that the highest of all of our desires are fulfilled in God, and some saints describe this closeness in an ecstasaic sort of way. You can’t have both stereotypes that Catholics hate sex but have 100 children per couple. The later is the true one.
