@sheisapaigeturner: In general, I’m trying to raise all of my kids to grow up to be kind and considerate people, but I think especially with our boys we have to put in the work that society doesn’t. ##raisingkids##raisingboys##millennialmom##motherhood##parentingtips

Can you do a series on how you are training your son to share the mental load (noticing what needs to be done, anticipating needs, executing and organizing, etc)? It would be super informative. I think about this as a boy mom

My brother came to all of my dance recitals and shows as a kid. I recently picked up dance again in my late 30s and he still came to support me at my spring show. Teaching your kids to support their siblings/friends young in life has adult impact as well!

“They come to all my baseball games…it’s the least I could do.” This reveals so much about how you’re raising him to think about others and be a considerate person. What a kind thing to say!❤️

Yes I'm constantly torn between complimenting good behavior because we want to see more of it or not making it a big deal because we don't want it to seem out of the ordinary. Because some things really are bare minimum but I'm not sure at what age kids will start to pick up on the nuance of that vs just not showing the good behavior if it's not praised

My brother is 21 years old. He stops to see my girls 3x a week. He wakes up and packs his own lunch and goes to work and comes home, takes care of himself, his dog, and my mom, and he’s just genuinely a very good human… this FLOORS people lol. I’m like yes he is a very good young man but also… this is how all young men should act, honestly! Sure, he does lean into being an uncle, a brother, an adult son way more than most 21 year olds do. Especially when my youngest was diagnosed with leukemia but he’s always had my daughters as his little sidekicks and he’s always taken care of my mom (our dad passed when he was 14) however he can since he became an adult…. but still. When people act all perplexed and amazed, it’s like yes, you, too, can have a son/brother/etc. like him! All you have to do is raise them right, truly amazing isn’t it?! We don’t tolerate asshole men in this family. You don’t have to tolerate them in yours either!

This is gold. I was dragged to absolutely everything for my brother, even sitting outside in a car while he did music lessons 🥴, yet it was always optional for him to stay home alone during my things (that were already much fewer and farther between). Homes that default to and prioritize boys really don’t do anyone any favors 😭.

Today my 15 year old sons baseball game was cancelled but his sister (9) had a soccer game. I offered to take him home on the way to her game because he had a late night, but he said “she comes to everything of mine let’s go!” Another mom with sons was shocked to see him! 😳 I don’t know why it’s not normal for the boys to support their sisters. Good job mom!

My rule has been my kids go to each others games/competitions unless they have their own activity conflict. Now at 13 and 15 years old they CHOOSE to continue this and wouldn’t have it any other way. They truly enjoy supporting each other.

It is always mind blowing seeing the difference when my sons go to their little sisters activities! Boomers are shocked! She was at baseball practice at 3 days old, they can sit through a dance recital 🤣
