They needed a moon goddess that was playable to enable lunar reactions with the last minute addition of nod-krai. Her visuals all look like typical angel depictions in fantasy. The white "angelic" appearance, her ult, her singing, her eye mask, all the feathers, etc, even the khuuviki(however you spell it) and her skill effect gives the appearance of a halo. She was most likely going to be a "appear innocent but is actually dark/evil" type but again they decided they needed a character that already had hype in the community to encourage pulls and work her character into nod-krai lore. The line about the top 3 having power that rivals the god is not that they are all gods (as shown with the other two) but that they have power like a god/archon, like the doctor "becoming a god", he isn't a real god but presenting as one, similar to wanderer before sumeru conclusion and of course an angel would have power "like a god". Most of genshins stories surround the fact that humans/humanity are taking over control for themselves/becoming their own gods rather than letting themselves be dictated by heavenly principles/archons or otherwise. Even all the way in mondstat and liyue this was the theme of the story and has continued to be the story in every nation in some way. The problem with nod-krai and all the "canon" lore it brings is it was never planned from the start like the rest of the story so any addition to the lore(like the space ship) was never "canon" in the first place and things around it were reworked to make it fit. Columbina existed before nod-krai meaning her lore had to be at least some what reworked because nod-krai didn't exist when she did.

I agree wholeheartedly. They made the framework for the story long time ago, and yes there might be minor tweaks along the way, but she was always meant to be the detached moon goddess. It makes much more sense for Ronova to have the imagery the fans wanted for Columbina.

yeah cuz the whole “nod-krai wasn’t planned tho!!” doesn’t mean the whole story was rewritten. if columbina wasn’t the moon goddess, then nodkrai would’ve been a part of snezhnaya just like the chasm or dragonspine. sure she could’ve been something else than the moon goddess, but she was very likely planned to be a goddess or at least a non-human person! nodkrai was added in order to clear up for lore points bcs nobody was reading those books, so no one really knew the WHOLE lore.
