His brain and body had already prepared that right leg to accept his weight at a specific instant. The contact delayed his foot, so when it finally planted, his weight and forward momentum were already farther ahead than the knee expected. The foot stuck while the rest of him kept moving, forcing the knee to buckle and rotate. Basically, his upper body kept its appointment while his right foot showed up late—and the knee got stuck handling the scheduling conflict. That’s the sickening part: it doesn’t require some spectacular collision. It’s essentially a mistimed plant under full load, the kind of mechanism that can injure the ACL, MCL, or meniscus. Obviously, nobody can diagnose the injury from a replay, but it’s one of those plays you don’t merely watch—you somehow feel it in your own knee, even if you’re sitting perfectly still on a couch holding nachos.
