This is 1000% true. I also have made a few friends that I met online who appeared VERY different than in person. Online I had a negative impression and in person they were amazing. Dating apps would emotionally drain me. you CAN meet someone through it but how many draining matches and swipes are you going to have to go through for how many years? can't Take it.

The problem with dating apps is that kind of feeling comes from time spent with someone. If people (women mostly) don’t feel instant chemistry over a 1hr coffee date then that’s it. Chemistry comes from familiarity.

A lot of people are also bad at taking/choosing pictures. They’ll have their senior pictures from 5 years ago, a group photo with 7 of their friends, and a blurry selfie with their dog. They could be attractive irl but their photos appeal to you the same way.

That’s why I do both lol first dates are so easy and nbd if you don’t like each other. And even if you meet at a bar you might not like the guy once you’re on the date. Gives you the best of both options
