@megandonohuee: My first Ironman, through my dad’s eyes. 🤍 A year ago, I decided to get into triathlons with the goal of completing an Ironman. Originally I was nervous about doing long rides by myself on the road, so my dad decided to join me for a few rides. A few rides turned into every ride. He became my bike coach and mechanic all in one, riding 90 to 100+ mile rides with me, planning all of our routes, and teaching me how to become a more efficient and confident cyclist along the way. This journey became so meaningful to both of us. As a dad daughter duo, having an activity that we could share and bond over was such an unexpected and really special part of this experience. On race morning, he told me how much he believed in me. Then he told me exactly where I could find him on the course. He wore a bright yellow jacket so I wouldn’t miss him. (How could you miss someone who cheers for you like that?!) Every time I heard him yelling my name, I went right back to those long bike rides we shared together and felt the confidence and energy to keep pushing. I am an Ironman, but I did not get here alone. Dad, thank you for every mile, every Sunday, every tire change lesson, every bike tool, every route you planned, every ounce of support, and for believing in me every step of the way. And thank you for being there for me for this finish line, and for all of life’s finish lines. This one is ours. 🤍 @IRONMAN @New Balance @Garmin Connects
