i love ned but he was too good to a fault, look how many bad things happened bc of his death. His wife and first born son died, sansa was abused, arya was just doing stuff. It all worked out in the end but had he thought about the impact on his family first, he would maybe have thought twice about threatening cersei. Yh he was honourable, but his family suffered because of it. loved ur thoughts btw :3

yes ned chose to stick to his morals but the coast is so much more than being honest, morality may have costed him his head but it did cost so much more for his family. He didn’t grant safety for his kids and he left a son with no experience in hold of the most important house of the north and the other to the wall; so the real question is did ned stood true to himself or was he so self absorbent by himself and what’s write and what wrong that he didn’t calculate the risk he made to his family? Did he choose to tell cercei to protect innocent children from being k**** or was he paving the way for the endless suffering of his daughter? He could have told everyone and then helped cercei’s kids to escape but he chose to confront her claiming that it’s “moral”. In my opinion, he was selfish for choosing another’s child but his own

this is so beautiful, it’s why i’m obsessed with ASIOAF... people say ned’s death was pointless and he was silly but he was just himself until the very end. i’m 10 pages away from being on a dance with dragons pt1! i hope you enjoy the rest of the series

The morality in Game of Thrones is all over the place. A lot of characters are just grey. They may act good then they may act bad then it is just rollercoasters of emotions that makes it worthwhile especially brans and aryas early chapters. I really enjoy them.

loved your question: what are your morals, before they get tested? 📝 values get tested when we lose or gain ⭐️

Ned is a great example of what happens when you don’t play the game of thrones. Idk who said it but there’s a quote that to play fair in an unfair game/world is foolish, alas one’s principles should be weighed up against it all.

This is such an interesting take because watching the show after the series ended I also looked back at how Ned shouldn’t have bothered warning Cersei about her lies and deception in which made the Lannister hold the throne for the whole series (technically) but I remember seeing a take where if Ned changed how far would he go and it simply wasn’t Ned, book goers always emphasized that Ned had morals and never betrayed them. Or would he had turned out like Daenerys at the end of the series cold and cruel matter of fact so many watchers debated that, the Daenerys portrayed in the season finale is not “real” Daenerys and “Dany would never do that to the small folk” truth is peoples morals change when their backs are constantly pushed into a corner and there is consist lost in one’s life. In this case Ned never experienced this (arguably)
