Its only a debate if each want to be right. The answer is both, teaching has multiple stages, at a conceptual level anyone can teach, the actual doers also teach by sharing their experience, journey, lessons and more importantly mentor/inspire. Both are forms of teaching or the learning journey. The same way ypu can say classroom learning is useless because some people learn practically or on the job. These are both important

I accept your statement but I share the same sentiment as your brother. I believe one cannot pour out from a cup that doesn't exist. if you have not walked the path you only have and idea and opinion not necessarily the expirience. they might not be good teachers but their life expirience is.
